LE PHARE is an ONG, ounded in 1975 by Brother Jules Lamothe, incorporated in 1983.
MISSION
Starting from the socio economic situation of Rivière-des-prairies, LE PHARE has te mission to foster the human development at the individual and communitarian level especially for low income families and immigrants. More than a thousand families are involved by the program of animation.
The main services and activities of LE PHARE are :
- Welcome, listening and reference center
- Workshop of socialisation for 3-5 years. Summer camp.
- Activities for development of parenting skills
- Academic and social accompaniment for 6-12 years. Summer camp.
- Art workshop for all.
- Collective kitchen preparing meals for the community.
- Activities of animation of youth (12-20 years)
- French learning for new comers.
- Program of integration for young immigrant ladies.
- Food service.
- Computer training.
At the moment, the regular personnel is of 10, by contract, 22, with 5 stagiaires and more than a dozen of volunteers. After having been director, Bro. Léo Martiel remains an enthusiastic jubilarian volunteer of the Phare
